WELCOME TO OUR CLUB
GUISBOROUGH MODEL FLYING CLUB
The club has been in existence since the late 1960’s and has seen many changes in its long history. We are affiliated to the British Model Flying Association (BMFA) and in 2018 the club became a company limited by guarantee.
We are fortunate to have had access to an excellent flying site, just to the South of the village of Dunsdale for over 30 years. More recently, we have taken out a lease on approximately 4 acres of land which has given us the opportunity to fully enclose the field. The runway, which is regularly mown and rolled, has improved significantly in this time.
In 2022 the flying site cabin was substantially improved providing a useful retreat in the event of bad weather, facilities to prepare food & drinks and space to carry out minor repairs. During the summer months we have a number of evening meetings on the field with BBQ and flying.

TRAIN WITH US
The club has a number of flying instructors who can provide flight training by arrangement, when weather conditions are favourable. We have a great track record of progressing complete beginners through to BMFA ‘A’ certificate standard and solo flying. The club also has a qualified flying examiner who can take pilots through their A certificate test.
Complete beginners are welcome to come and use the club equipment for a number of trial flights after which it is expected that they will purchase their own equipment if they decide to progress.
CLUB MEMBERSHIP
The club membership costs £65 per year and covers a range of aeromodelling activities including:

Free flight and Control line

IC engined powered flight - trainers, sport, aerobatic, scale, helicopters

Electric flight - trainers, sport, aerobatic, scale, gliders, helicopters

Gas turbine models.

Indoor flying. (The Shildon Club kindly welcomes members of GMFC to fly with them on a monthly basis at their excellent facility in Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre)
The club has a monthly meeting (usually the first Thursday of the month) starting at 7pm at the Guisborough Quoits Club. There is usually an update on club news followed by a speaker or a demonstration on model building and flying.

We are a very friendly and helpful club who welcome new members whether experienced or not. We also offer a social membership (non flying) which gives access to the flying site and club meetings to enjoy the social aspects of the club.
